...The Name 'Dale Manufacturing' came about as an attempt to have a short easy to remember, business name... really just my initials with 'e' for engineering added on the end. The 'manufacuring' because my chosen original product was a light weight high performance sports car.
...Education wise, I got a four year degree form Oregon State Universlty in 1971 in Mechanical Engineering Technology, automotive major. It was designed to be partway between professional engineers and the production line staff; to help solve industry problems and help both sides understand each other.
...After graduation, I had the desire to start up a car company, designed a first car and began to research and build it while working full time. So evenings and weekends for four years (6,000 hours total) later, the prototype was completed and intially tested... ready to take orders!

Completed and road worthy...
...Anyway, to make a long story short, the federal government informed me that I needed to give them three cars to crash test and that I would have to meet all the safely and pollution requirements as the big car companies (did not matter that I was only planning to make 2 or three cars per year).
...It was at this point that I decided to shift my business to rebuilding car parts for a certain discontinued Chevrolet model, which has now become just rebuilding harmonic balancers for most cars and trucks.
...My wife Karen does receiving, cleanup and shipping, as well as phone and office duties; and it is a pleasure to work with her {full time the past four years}. I just do the preparation, fixturing and bonding part in the middle.
Our work schedule reflects our planning to continue to provide this harmonic balancer rebuilding service for many more years to come. Our 34 years of service makes us, unless I am mistaken, the oldest rebuilder of harmonic balancers in America. Our life time guarantee on the rubber bond reflects our confidence in the quality of the service we are pleased to provide for you, our valued customers hoth here and around the world. Thank you.
...
...As a side note, I have recently (past 12 years or so) been involved in acoustic research on stringed instruments (violin especially), as well as violin making. In the process, I have completed 23 violins and discovered some interesting relationships between the various vibrating parts of musical instruments. Still a lot to learn, but some progress is being make. If interested you can explore some more at www.violinresearch.com.
..Karen and I recently visited all 50 covered wooden truss bridges in Oregon over a year. It was fun to get out to the small rural communities and soak in some of the recent local history. Oregon (in the good weather months) is full of surprises, from monutains to sand dunes to high prarie to great ocean beaches or mountian lakes; and all withing two hours drive from our home here in Salem, Oregon.
..We warmly thank you for your business....
